she smells sea

Image
Hi, Im gonna post some organisms that I found in seashore of Klara (Kelapa Rapat Lampung) when we had PKL some weeks ago. I've tried to identify them. Some short descriptions I took from related site but all images are originally mine. Lets smell sea... Halimeda sp. Kingdom : Pr otista Divisio      : Chlorophyta  Class        : Bryopsidophyceae Order        : Bryopsidales  Family      : Halimedaceae Genus       : Halimeda Spesies      : Halimeda incrasta   ( J.V.Lamouroux , 1812 ) Description: Halimeda are green calcareous algae found worldwide and used as decorative plants in the marine aquarium. Various references will place Halimeda in the Halimedaceae, Udoteaceae, or Codiaceae family. The irregular oval segments of Halimeda appear as several small green coins glued from...

Organs Histology

Image
Today, I'm going to post some photos of my Animals Structure practicum ( Sistem Organ ) . I observed some organs of chicken. Including Intestine, kidney, heart, lung, liver, and femur.  I also took some pictures from google for your information. So, check it out! This is intestine histology (Usus) kidney histology (ginjal) femur histology (otot) this is chicken' s lung histology (paru-paru) Heart Histology liver histology and here are some photos I took from google, I had used this literature for my practicum report. you know guys, digestive system is also complex. Intestine that common we knew including jejunum, duodenum, and ileum. I dont know for sure what Intestine that we observed. Im sorry :( but you could visit many sites that have endless information :D The femur , or thigh bone , is the most proximal (closest to the body) bone of the leg in vertebrates capable of walking or jumping, such as most land mammals, birds, many re...

Awetan Offset!

Image
January, 8th 2011 - do you know what we were doing?   we were going to KILL some animals haha!!! this is a pooooor turtle that killed by injecting  Alcohol 95%  (˘̩̩̩ε˘̩̩̩ƪ) all organs within tortoise body should be removed, It carapax was very strong! so, we need 'tukang bangunan' to help us to cut it. I and Puji went to 'tukang bangunan' and asked them to cut the carapax. there were some dialogues betweet 'tukang bangunan' and each of them in Javanese, I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND What they've told about!! -__-" I fake a laugh when they laugh, haha just looked like a fool.  hehe, by the way thanks 'om tukang bangunan'!! You are Powerfull!! :D some teams used reptile, amphibian such BIAWAK,SNAKE eergg..~(‾^‾)~ this is photo of Widya and Nabila's team, they made snake preserved (awetan=preserved?) and they dared to hold that snake ahhh.. yuck! the moreover, there were horrible attractions murder the snakes. Many teams have used sn...

Plastids ( Plastida)

Image
Plastids are major organelles found in the cells of plants and algae. Plastids are the site of manufacture and storage of important chemical compounds used by the cell. Plastids often contain pigments used in photosynthesis, and the types of pigments present can change or determine the cell 's color. Plastids are responsible for photosynthesis , storage of products like starch and for the synthesis have the ability to differentiate , or redifferentiate, between these and other forms. All plastids are derived from proplastids (formerly "eoplasts", eo -: dawn, early), which are present in the meristematic regions of the plant. Proplastids and young chloroplasts commonly divide, but more mature chloroplasts also have this capacity. In plants , plastids may differentiate into several forms, depending upon which function they need to play in the cell. Undifferentiated plastids ( proplastids ) may develop into any of the following plastids: [ 1 ] Chloroplasts : fo...

Sodium Spurs a Tadpole to Regenerate Its Tail

Image
from :  http://www.basesciences.com/article.asp?articleid=98927&Sodium-Spurs-a-Tadpole-to-Regenerate-Its-Tail if a young tadpole loses its tail, no problem—it can grow a new one. Biologist Michael Levin and his team experimented with this amphibian talent, and they say they found the signal  that triggers the regeneration: sodium. If scientists can find the trigger in tadpoles, perhaps someday they could find triggers for other species. Maybe even humans. By using drugs to prompt a flood of sodium ions into injured nerve cells, biologists from Tufts University were able to regenerate severed tadpole tails — complex appendages containing spinal cord, muscle and other tissue. The sodium infusion got tadpoles to regrow lost tails even if scar tissue had already formed over the wound. Conversely, blocking the flow of sodium ions to the nerve cells prevented the regeneration. One particular [sodium]-importing channel, called NaV1.2, was required for tail re...

Observation of trichome, stomata, and plant tissue

Image
ayo teman-teman belajar perkembangan tumbuhan! aku masih coba pake bilingual hehe. these are some of our speciment and original my own documents, i didnt grab it from anywhere ! :D STOMATA The leaf  epidermis of Sri Rejeki plant ( idk, latin name of its. i just write the name based on my practical handbook) .  it is covered with pores called stomata , part of a stoma complex consisting of a pore surrounded on each side by chloroplast-containing guard cells , and two to four subsidiary cells that lack chloroplasts. The stoma complex regulates the exchange of gases and water vapor between the outside air and the interior of the leaf. The stoma is bounded by two guard cells that differ from the epidermal cells.
